Week 11 - Feb 3 & 4

U8 Red v Green

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Reds put on an impressive display against the Greens on a freshly prepared grass pitch.  Well timed shots by Harvey (25), Noah (18) and Oliver (17) helped the team to a total of 94 runs.  After the break, the bowlers had their chance to shine, with James and Noah (Player of the Match) both taking 2 wickets each.  Final score Red 94, Green 51.  Special mention must go to the Green team whose focus, energy and improving skills in the field saved many boundaries.  Keep it up!

U9 Blue

Under 9 Blues once again climbed fences to play a game today- such dedication!
Thank you to The Gators from Sandgate Redcliffe Kent for helping us out with numbers in the field.
Player of the week was Will, who not only impressed us with his wicket keeping, did a fantastic job bowling with 2 maiden overs, 2 wickets and only 1 run.
Will - 2/1
Jonah -2/11
Owen- 27
Hamish- 26

U10 Red

A very close game against Burpengary this week, on a slow outfield, saw the Reds go down by 10 runs.  A big hitting last over by the Brumbies saw them over the line.  Fielding and catching by the Reds this week was a much improved effort over last week, but our batting still needs some work - hitting those loose balls is key to scoring the big runs.  A man of the match performance by our captain, Aidan wasn't quite enough to get us across the line.  Next week will be a big test - the derby against U10 Blue!

Week 10 - Jan 27 & 28

U8 Red v White

A darkening sky and a drizzle of rain was not enough to dampen the spirits of TLCC U8 Super Six Red team on Friday night who were eager to put into play the skills they had been working on over the summer.  Improved fielding skills by all and great length and line by Will 1/9, Axel 0/5 and John 0/5 restricted TLCC White to 60 runs.  Increasingly heavy rain made batting more difficult, but Red players Will 33 (Player of the Match) and Tyler 17 steered their team to a total of 78.  Despite being a little damp, both teams had a great match.

U9 Blue v Red

After a 20 minute working bee from both teams to allow the pitch to be playable, the local U9 Derby was back again. We saw some wonderful sportsmanship, classic catches and a couple of big sixes.
Blue (101)

Unfortunately bad weather at Scarborough meant this game ended in a draw with no play on day 2. Results after day 1 TLCC U11 Blue 4/125 v St Pats Gold 5/88. Amazing batting by Harry out for 28 from 25 balls and Lucas who retired at 26 runs also off 25 balls. Lucas also performed with the ball with 1/7 off 3 but Hirun was our star with the ball with figures of 1/1 off 3.
Player of day 1 - Harry Williamson. Another great team performance. We are exited to end on a high with a one day game next week.

Week 7 - 19 & 20 November 2016

Under 8:
TLCC Red played TLCC Green in a fun, friendly match on Friday night.  Classy shots from Erin (13) and Johanna (12) had the Green team off to a great start with a tidy total of 44.  Whilst the best bowlers for Red were Harvey 0/4 and Julian 0/7, the team worked hard in the field to get 5 run out dismissals.  A quick drinks break was followed by great batting from Red players Tyler (29), Harvey (28) and James (28) which helped secure a total of 138 and another win this week.  Congratulations must go to the Green team who showed some fancy fielding in only their second match this season.  Keep it up both teams - you certainly showed great sportsmanship and are a credit to the club!

Under 10:
A very close game between Under 10 Red and Redcliffe Cyclones on a "very" lush outfield saw the Red teams win by a small margin of 7 runs. Batting first, Lakes Red scored 101 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.  Top scorers  were Konnor and Joshua, both with 15 runs.  When it was Redcliffe's turn to bat, some very tight bowling and fielding restricted Redcliffe to 91 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. The team welcomed back Peter from a broken arm as he took 3 for 9 off three overs, ably supported by Aarjan with a wicket and Kaleb with 2 runs outs and a catch.

Week 6 - 11 & 12 November 2016

Under 8:

Another tough battle between U8 SS Red and Blue teams tonight.  Great fielding by the Blues was not enough to upset the Reds on this occasion though with the final scores Reds 83 def Blues 65.  Best batters for the Reds were Harvey (25) and Oliver (22) and bowlers Harvey 1/1 and Oliver 1/16.  Player of the match this week went to Oliver for a great wicket from the last ball of the game.

Under 10:

The Red team continued their mid-season resurgence this week against St Patricks Green.  WIth two regulars away, we called on Tyler (U8 Red) to fill in for us this week, and he did a superb job, with 17 runs and a wicket for a great all-round display.  Batting first, the boys racked up 154 runs for the loss of only 4 wickets.  Konnor top scored again with a well compiled 34 runs, supported by Ethan and Kaleb with 22.  Nearly all the boys reached double figures with the bat.  In the field, the whole team contributed with the ball, with nearly every bowler taking a wicket, wtih Damon leading the way with 3 for 9 from 3 tight overs, supported by Konnor with 2 for 19 off 3.  Ethan bowled our first maiden over for the year with his tight leg-spin.  St Pats were restricted to 11 for 89, giving the boys a well-deserved win.

Under 11:

Second win for Y11 Blue against, Sandgate Redcliffe Walters at Deagon. First innings Blue 8/186 & Walters 10/152.
Cooper (18) and Jonah (3) both retired after their 50balls and Eli top scored with 22. Outstanding bowling performance by James with figures of 2/4 and Josh 2/15 & 1/3. Well done team! Player of day one – Jonah, player day two – Josh.

Week 5 - 4 & 5 November 2016

Under 8:
A close match against Redcliffe. Great batting by Tyler (17) and James (14) and some tidy bowling by Tyler (1/10) and Harvey (0/7) was not enough for the win. The final score, 75 to 57. Congratulations to Noah for a maiden over.

Under 9:

The Under 9 Blue team (172) were great communicators today against Sandgate Kent (63). Congratulations to our all rounder of the day Cooper S who went home with the award.
Best batsmen: Owen -29, Will-26
Best Bowlers: Jonah - 2/9, Alex-1/4
A great game against a friendly team!

Under 10:
Under 10 Red team had their first win of the season against St Pauls.  A true team effort with all players contributing in the field, with the ball and with the bat.  Great catching and fielding restricted St Pauls to just 140 for 8, after setting an imposing but getable 141 for 1.  Top scorers were Konnor with 28 and Ethan with 25, while Kaleb and Aarjan were the pick of the bowlers.

Week 4 - 28 & 29 October 2016

Under 8 Red:

An opening partnership of 48 (Harvey 27 and Tyler 21) including the team's first six and several fours got TLCC Red off to a great start against TLCC White.  Consistent batting by the rest of the team, top notch fielding and increasingly accurate bowling (Harvey 2/11 and Julian 1/8) resulted in the Reds defeating Whites 82 to 63. A good game all round.

Under 11 Blue:

U11 Blue lost a hard fought game at Eatons Hill against Albany Creek Hawks. We had a number of stand out performances including Josh retiring at 32balls,  James who retired at 35 balls and took two wickets. In only his second game Jai also took two wickets and was on a hat trick. Top scorers, Harry and Cooper 14. Player of day one – James, player day two – Hirun for his fantastic effort in the field.

Week 3 - 22 & 23 October 2016

Under 8:

A tough battle for the U8 Super Six Red Team on Friday night.  Some impressive batting from Axel (22) and Harvey (17), and bowling by Noah (0/5) and James (0/15) was not enough to secure a win, however the team is certainly developing some impressive skills.  Keep it up boys!

Under 9:

Under 9 Blue (229) defeated Bald Hills Lawnton (13)
Congratulations to Alex our player of the week for his 2 wickets, a run out and excellent wicket keeping.
Batsman: Hamish 40 and Owen 39
Bowlers: Hamish 3/2 and Alex 2/5
Great to see our boys helping the other team out with their fielding.

Under 10 Red:

Another tough day for the Under 10 Red team.  After winning the toss and sending Pine Rivers Pumas in, the boys bowled tight line and length,  with a smattering of wickets to help keep the runs down.  Damon took his first wicket ever, which was excitedly celebrated by all!  Then the Pumas' Captain came into bat and he showed his experience and class, smacking 52 runs, including one huge six.

Then it was Lakes turn to bat.  Solid contributions by all the boys, with top score by Konnor, and a quick innings by Josh and Ethan wasn't enough to haul in their score.

The boys are showing excellent determination in the field and running between wickets is getting better every week.  Keep up the great work, boys.

Under 10 Blue:

Lucas coming off after hitting 38 (7 4's and 1 6).  The team as a whole is playing really well and taking on board the principles of good cricket - good sportsmanship, encouragement and always trying their best.

Week 2 - 14 & 15 Oct 2016

Under 9:

Under 9 Blue (142) had a great game against Sandgate Swepson (65) today. Congratulations to Ethan our player of the week for his wicket keeping. Best batsmen; Cooper W-36, Hamish-26. Best bowlers; Lakshdeep- 0/2 and Will 0/6. Great game boys!

Under 10:

The U10 Red team played a super competitive Pine Rivers Panthers team at Petrie SS.  After restricting the Panthers to 159, with a couple of great catches by Aarjan, ably supported by Aidan, Carson and Konnor.  Aarjan's bowling stood out, with 4 - 13.  Batting second, we were put under pressure by the Panthers, who restricted us to a score of 120.  A few too many catches given and a couple of unlucky run-outs didn't help.  Top scorer was Ethan with 24, and Jake and Kaleb with 17.  Next game is against Pine Rivers Pumas - we can't wait!

Under 11:
A fantastic result on the weekend and the outstanding performance of our team.
U11 Blue won their first U11 game on the weekend. With less than a handfull of wins in the past two seasons this was very exciting for the team.

St Pats Blue 2nd Innings 49

12 of our 13 players took a wicket (the one that didn't was sick for day 2).

Week 1 - 7 & 8 October 2016

Under 8:

The lights at the State College were not nearly as bright as the enthusiastic smiles on the faces of the U8 Super Six Reds on Friday night.  Quick fielding and direct hits resulted in 5 run outs, while the bowlers kept a good line and length taking extra wickets.  Pulling on the pads, the Reds were equally consistent, all scoring at a strike rate of at least 50.  Performances of the night went to Harvey with 3-14, and Ollie who made a quick 20 off his 10 balls.  A fabulous start to the season.

A special congratulations to Hamish for his hat-trick. Great work under 9's!

Under 10:
The Blue team played the Red team for the first match of the year at Kurwongbah State School, and it was a close affair.  Batting first, the Red team posted a competitive total of 181, but lost a few too many wickets (16).  The Blue team were too strong, only losing 4 wickets in their chase, for 172 runs.  Hayden Farnsworth (Blue) was the game high scorer with 38 runs, closely followed by Harjas Sandhu (Blue) with 32, Peter Millican (Red) with 28 and Konnor Rees (Red) with 26.  Harjas also took 4 - 32 and Lucas Turner (Blue) took 3 - 19.  The best figures for Red were Kaleb Rees with 1 - 5 and Konnor Rees with 1 - 12.  Two highlights of the day were Aiden Abbott, who took a wicket with his very first ball ever in cricket, and an absolute screamer of a catch from Sam Caddy-Welsh from behind the stumps - diving full length to his right and taking it one-handed a couple of inches from the ground.

The game was played in great spirit and the 5 debutantes across both teams would have had a wonderful first game experience.
